Three topics will be dealt with:

1) Regulation and Risk Management
The reference to Basel II & Solvency II framework will be welcome, in particular: measurement of Solvency Capital Requirement, standard models vs. internal models, enterprise risk management for Solvency purposes, applications at group level. Effects on the corporate finance, techniques for checking up risk- adjusted profitability may be also dealt with.

2) Risk Analysis in Corporate Finance
The topic includes all measurement and monitoring problems in project finance. Papers relevant to valuation of the innovative projects, cost analysis projects, risk mitigation, inventory management and “risk appetite” are highly welcome.


3) Pension, Life and Health Risks
Longevity risks always imply financial considerations; in the same time health insurance policy involves a mitigation strategy. Papers on the financial tools (longevity and health bonds) are expected.

Any other AFIR matters, new ideas, innovative approaches or day‐to‐day problems may be proposed during the Speakers’ Corner.

In order to assist the Scientific Committee in planning the program, authors who intend to submit a paper are kindly requested to inform the Committee (afir2008@italian-actuaries.org) enclosing a brief abstract.

Authors should submit their papers in final version by June 1, 2008. All decisions taken by the AFIR Scientific Committee concerning acceptance of papers will be communicated by July 15, 2008.

Papers shall be written in English or in French and should be between 5 and 30 pages in length. Detailed instructions for authors.

Prizes will be assigned to the two best papers, selected by the Scientific Committee.
